The past few days have been remarkable for me as I drove 1200 miles- on Friday,20th August from Glasgow to North East England, Bradford and then to Wales on Saturday and Sunday in the cities of Newport and Cardiff in order to raise funds during Islamic Relief’s “Iftar for Pakistan” dinners held there. Monday back to Glasgow via Bristol.
All three of the above fundraising dinners were entirely organised by Islamic Relief local volunteers and what is even more inspiring is the fact that Cardiff raised £117,000 in just 40minutes. Similarly, the people of Bradford raised £100,000 from 500+ people who attended and those who were at the Newport dinner; approx 170 people raised £32,000.
These figures have come with the great generosity of the people in the UK regardless of their faith or race. It also shows that the British public have great love in their hearts and caring attitude and behaviour than any other European nation.

Without a doubt these figures are just the start but definitely not the end of the Islamic Relief fundraising initiatives. We are hoping that these events will motivate others to contribute and extend their help.
The International Governments Pledging can go on forever but the victims of the floods in Pakistan need us to act now. I am grateful to the British public for their support and I have faith in them for the future too as once the floods are cleared the sufferers will need our assistance in order to re-build their lives.
My next stop will be in Luton on Saturday, 28th for our next fundraising dinner, 29th in Manchester and finally Tuesday 31st in Bristol fundraising dinner before I fly back to Pakistan on 1st Sept!
