There is no less number of gatherings, conferences, and functions I attended enjoyed and rejoiced for a very long time but I believe my last weekend has added some incredibly bright and amazing moments into my memory.
On this weekend I had the pleasure of being a part of a couple of highly inspiring gatherings, each of which had its own charm and significance for me. On Saturday evening I was invited to the Robert Burns Humanitarian Awards 2012 ceremony at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in A

Throughout my work for more than a decade in the humanitarian sector I have been to countless charity gatherings, functions, events and workshops. I have conducted and hosted a number of fund raising events for Islamic Relief but the round-off dinner arranged by Charity Week (CW) Scotland team in Edinburgh on 12 November was one of unforgettable events of my recent past. I was invited to the dinner to observe the gets and gains of CW 2011 and deliver my message to the volunteers.

This week we are all reminded of the devastating earthquake which struck Haiti on 12th January 2010, depriving millions of people from their daily lives. This was, well in fact it is still, a tragedy, a humanitarian tragedy. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Haiti.
Judge yourself the scale of this disaster!!!
Bodies recovered: 150,000
Estimated dead: 220,000
Injured: 194,000
Children who were unaccompanied, orphaned or lost one parent: 1 million

Islamic Relief has been the charity of choice for Charity Week (CW) in Scotland for many years and this year was no different. Students from all over the country from 1st November to 7th November undertook different ways of fundraising from bucketing on the streets, family fundraising days, doughnut sales, and charity dinners.
I was also involved, fundraising on Saturday 6th November in the Dundee dineer which was organised entirely by students who at this time of year are also very busy wit

The past weekend has been a very busy one for me. I had to present my eye-witness account of Pakistan floods and fund raise in Edinburgh and Lanark during 2 fundraising dinners. Over £115,000 were raised from the 2 events.
On Saturday evening the fundraiser dinner for the Pakistan flood victims was in Edinburgh (Royal Highland Centre). The event was organised and hosted by the community of Edinburgh. It was truly inspiring to see that local Edinburgh organisations came together and were

Well today was the Great Scottish Run 2010 (10K and half-marathon) in Glasgow. I made my way to George Square this morning to meet all our the runners participating under Awaz FM / Islamic Relief banner, running to raise money for the Pakistan flood victims.
It was really inspiring to see runners from different religious groups and ethnicity included those from the Scottish government, the local city council elected members, professionals and students running for the

It gives me great pleasure to say that Islamic Relief has always had the support of Glasgow’s big-hearted community radio stations Radio Ramadan Glasgow (87.7fm) and Awaz FM (107.2 fm). Both stations have helped Islamic Relief broadcast its message to the community in and around Glasgow for the last 10 years.
Radio Ramadan Glasgow has chosen Islamic Relief as its one of the charity organisation during their month of Ramadan broadcast. They have been broadcasting Is

Over the past weekend I was back in England for a two day trip to attend the “Iftar for Pakistan” charity dinner events for the flood victims. My first stop was Luton on Saturday where I was joined by hard working Islamic Relief volunteers with our two guests of honour Pakistani cricket players Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq.
The Luton dinner was organised and led by the owner of Nadeem Plaza, Mr Nadeem
I was pleased to see different organisation

The past few days have been remarkable for me as I drove 1200 miles- on Friday,20th August from Glasgow to North East England, Bradford and then to Wales on Saturday and Sunday in the cities of Newport and Cardiff in order to raise funds during Islamic Relief’s “Iftar for Pakistan” dinners held there. Monday back to Glasgow via Bristol.
All three of the above fundraising dinners were entirely organised by Islamic Relief local volunteers and what is even more

On Friday (20th August), I had the pleasure of participating in an amazing Islamic Relief event in Bradford at the Hilton hotel. At very short notice and request by our Bradford volunteers, a 600-strong crowd turned out to support Islamic Relief’s aid efforts in Pakistan during their time of need in the aftermath of the worst disaster in recent history.
With brief motivational and inspiring speeches from Hanif (a dedicated Islamic Relief volunteer for 14 years), Jehangir Malik (OBE)
