It gives me great pleasure to say that Islamic Relief has always had the support of Glasgow’s big-hearted community radio stations Radio Ramadan Glasgow (87.7fm) and Awaz FM (107.2 fm). Both stations have helped Islamic Relief broadcast its message to the community in and around Glasgow for the last 10 years.

Radio Ramadan Glasgow has chosen Islamic Relief as its one of the charity organisation during their month of Ramadan broadcast. They have been broadcasting Islamic Relief’s appeal to the public and will do so for the remaining 7 days of this blessed month.

The listeners, the management team at the station and supporters have been very generous in raising funds for the Pakistan flood victims. Today I collected a cheque ( £8,820 ) on behalf of Islamic Relief and this money will be used to provide the victims with food, medicines, shelter and water. Islamic Relief and I are truly grateful for the tremendous response of the station and I know that when I mention this to the flood victims in Pakistan next week they will also be very grateful for this help and will be offering a lot of prayers for the donors.

Awaz FM’s chosen charity this month also Islamic Relief. I remember just before leaving for Pakistan from Glasgow airport on 31st July I made a call to Awaz FM to request for an appeal advert. I had no time to prepare adverts and messages for the appeal before departing to the airport. In fact I didn’t even know what to expect before I arrived in the flood stricken areas of Pakistan. I made a quick phone call to one of the Awaz FM Director and asked if he could make Islamic Relief's advert for the fundraising appeal and broadcast it. Awaz FM did this immediately without hesitation and has been broadcasting Islamic Relief’s appeal message since the start of the floods.

I am delighted to say that 80+ runners of Awaz FM, from diverse background will be participating in the Great Scottish Run which will be held on Sunday 5^th September here in Glasgow. All the money raised by these runners through sponsorships will be donated to our Islamic Relief Pakistan Floods appeal. I wish all the runners of Awaz FM team the best of luck and a sincere thanks for their tremendous efforts.
